Jeremy’s tribute

Hello family & friends; I thank you for visiting my father’s tribute page.

I am Myron!

This celebration of my beloved father is a celebration of remembrance, love, laughter, and victory. My father was a good man. He was kind and always showed respect and taught me to do the same.

My dad had swag, and you had to respect his style and his fashion game.

He loved music and loved to laugh.

It wasn’t until my adult years that I realized how much he and I had in common. We loved music and enjoyed the simple things in life, like family, FOOD, music, FOOD, goofing around, and FOOD.

But what I am most grateful about is … WE BOTH LOVED THE LORD.

So, I ask when you remember my dad

Think of his smile

Think of the sharpest outfit you’ve ever seen him in

Think of his laugh

Think of him standing over a BBQ grill

Think of Kathey

Think of my Aunts Erica and Sheila

Think of my Uncles Louis and Felix

In short, think of the things that brought him Joy

That’s what I plan to do.

The Apostle Paul went through lots of trouble: unjust persecution, famine, false arrest, shipwreck, the threat of murder, and so much more. Yet, he remained confident in the truth that God’s love knows no end.

So please know that …

“The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Romans 8:18 KJV

In my dad’s legacy, I pray for peace and prosperity, love and compassion, and healing to be with all of you in the coming days.

God Bless

Extended Family Reflections

by Erica Brown Gayles

family reflections

As we reflect and remember Myron, we will celebrate his life through music, stories, poems, and pictures; smiles, songs, and silence—each of these shall offer us a medium for memory as we make Myron’s presence with us.

Some of you will remember him from the last time you saw him. And some of us will remember him from just six weeks ago. We’ll not forget Myron in his times of strength and need; in his moments of joy, sadness, and pain; We’ll remember Myron as he was—no more, no less. In remembering Myron, we celebrate who he was and what his life meant to us and will always mean.

THESE ARE THE MEMORIES & QUALITIES WE CHERISHED ABOUT MYRON

1| Myron was the fourth of seven children. Myron had a very kind and quiet spirit. Most times, you would never know that he was in the room. Myron was always with our mother when we were kids; we would call him a mama’s boy. Myron was quiet and never got into arguments or fights with his brothers or anyone; he rarely got upset, even though his brothers and others often teased him.

2| Myron took pride in his career as a maintenance worker and manager. He never missed a day of work, sometimes working 2-3 jobs; Myron’s dedication showed in everything he did.

3| Myron loved food, all types of food. When we were young, Myron was always the first to finish his meal and was ready for seconds.   Myron loved to BBQ and enjoyed smoking all kinds of meats, which he would willingly do for family and friends. Even during his illness, when we talked, Myron would always ask what we cooked and how it tasted. He also wanted us to send pictures.

4| We all know that Myron took pride in his appearance. He kept his hair and beard trimmed regularly.   Myron was a sharp dresser and was always up on the latest fashion. Who remembers when Myron dressed like a rapper, chains and all? I know he got teased a lot about that stage in his life. Regardless Myron always looked good, from head to toe, with matching glasses.

5| Myron was a sports fanatic! He made sure to watch all sports. He enjoyed talking about players and stats with family and friends. We knew not to call if there was a game on.

6| Myron loved music, jazz, R&B, and Rock. Growing up, Myron had an extensive collection of albums from various artists. He always enjoyed going to concerts and just listening to music every day.

7| With music came dancing; anyone who knew Myron remembered him for dancing. Growing up in ESTL, we didn’t hit the clubs till 11 pm and danced the night away till the wee hours of the morning. Myron was always the last one on the dance floor.

Myron, we love and will miss you, but we know you are now at peace.

Keep on dancing in Heaven.

POEM  – by Charlita Dunn

DANCE ON!

If I could send a postcard to Heaven above, I would tell you that you will be missed and were so loved. Our heart has felt this oh-so lost, but when I see a rainbow, with the colors shining through. I see a bridge to Heaven that will lead us back to you.

I will ask God to watch and open those pearly gates with the streets painted in gold and be amazed at my Uncle Myron as he glides across the road.  Dancing like there is no tomorrow, but happy to be free of all the pain and sorrow.

Uncle Myron was indeed a gift to the world, giving to us for a short period. That contagious smile, generous heart, and oh-so-kind demeanor were only a few attributes to attempt to describe you best.

To say you will be missed and our hearts will not grieve is an understatement and so hard to believe.  We will cherish the good times, memories, and love you gave.  I know that someday we will see each other face to face.  Until then, I will pray to God that he hears me and allows you to dance your dance. We’ll meet again when it’s my time to climb the rainbow.

Love You, Uncle Myron

Charlita

    Myron,
I miss our frequent phone calls, even though I know I would get on your nerves sometimes for calling too often 😊. I miss hearing that “yeah, Erica.” I still hear your laughter and remember your beautiful smile. Whenever I cook something delicious or eat something new from a restaurant, I think about you because that was something we discussed on most of our calls. I know you missed eating all the foods you enjoyed because you couldn’t enjoy those foods anymore because of your illness.

I know you fought the good fight against cancer, but in the end, it became too much for your body and spirit to handle. While you’re not physically here, I feel your presence 😇; I knew you were transitioning during your last week. I could mentally feel you. I tried to be there with you, but it was in God’s hands.🙏🏾

I am so thankful that Shelia and I visited you in early February. We let you know how much we love you and were there for you during your time of need.

I’m still sad and grieving. I often view your tribute page and reminisce about the good times we shared. I love and miss you, my dear brother. Gone too soon! 💔

First I give my condolences to the family. I met Myron many years ago when I traveled to Atlanta with my friend/sis Charlita. He opened his doors to me and a few others and we were treated just like family. I’ll never forget the kindness he displayed.
